School Nutrition
The School Nutrition department strives to provide high quality and nutritious meals to all students. Director Sherri Kobs oversees a professional staff that is dedicated to your student's health. The department is an integral part of your student’s educational experience planning, preparing and serving over 1200 meals daily in 5 school buildings. Additionally, a la carte items are available at grades 6-12. We look forward to serving your child and encourage you to visit their school cafeteria and join them for lunch. The School Nutrition department also has full catering abilities for your rental event that is held at the High School.
McFarland School Nutrition lunches offer a variety of foods following USDA guidelines as well as from MyPlate® which meet specific guidelines for protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, iron and calcium while limiting the amount of fat and saturated fat. Our department is continually updating menus to provide vegetarian options, limiting sodium and sugar while increasing whole grains and daily fresh fruit and vegetable choices.

Managing Your School Nutrition Account
All schools operate on a computerized pre-pay lunch accounting system. Meal, milk and a la carte purchases are made through this system. Accounts are set up by family. Students with siblings anywhere in the district will access the same account. This allows families to make 1 payment for all their students. In addition, you are able to check your balance as well as purchases online daily by visiting Infinite Campus. You will need your family ID number (assigned by School Nutrition) and pin number (last 4 of your phone number) to access it. Balances and deposits will by updated daily by 5 pm.
Students access the system by a lunch id number (4 digits) (grades 3-5) or an ID card (grades k-2 and grades 6-12). Middle and High school students must have their identification card to scan in order to use the lunch cashier system. Student photos are used to verify the ID number.
Payments
Payments to your family account may be sent with your child to their school building (please put the child’s first and last name as well as family ID number on the check) or you may use our online payment service located in Infinite Campus, transferring money from your checking account or by debit or credit card payment.
It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to maintain a positive balance in the family account. Students with balances that fall below $5.00 will be reminded by the cashier that the account is low. The School Nutrition department will send out weekly to remind you of low and negative balances.
Parents should discuss purchasing guidelines with their children in advance to prevent unwelcome charges to their account. Please contact School Nutrition if you wish to set up a limit for this.
