7-7-10 School Board Minutes

Minutes of the School Board Retreat Held July 7, 2010 at Rossario’s, 6001 Monona Dr. Monona, Wisconsin 53716.

Meeting called to order by School Board President Arlyn Halvorson at 6:10 p.m.

Present: Arlyn Halvorson, Don Schutt, Tom Allen, Craig Howery, and Kathy Siegmann

Administrators Present: Scott Brown and Jim Hickey.

Motion by Schutt, second by Howery for Closed Session under WI Statute 19.85(1)(e) deliberating or negotiating the purchasing of public properties, the investing of public funds, or conducting other specified public business, whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session – administrative review. Motion carried 5-0.

Board members discussed the 2009-10 administrative reviews with Scott Brown.

Motion by Siegmann, second by Schutt to return to open session at 7:11 p.m. Motion carried 5-0.

Superintendent Brown and McFarland High School Principal Jim Hickey presented information on MHS grade weighting and GPA.

Superintendent Brown discussed with the Board the past year’s Superintendent-Board communications, Board process and operations, strategic planning, and goal setting. A review was also made of the 2009-10 WKCE and CAREI survey results.

Motion by Schutt, second by Howery to adjourn. Motion carried and meeting adjourned at 9:06 p.m.
