5-2-11 School Board Minutes





Minutes of the School Board Meeting Held May 2, 2011

 

Meeting called to order by School Board President Arlyn Halvorson at 6:04 p.m. in the School Board Room, McFarland District Office 5101 Farwell Street McFarland, WI 53558.

 

Present:                                    Arlyn Halvorson, Don Schutt, Tom Allen, Craig Howery, Kathy Siegmann

Absent:                                     none.

Administrators Present:              Scott Brown, Jeff Mahoney, Roberta Felker, Penny Simmons, and Tom Mooney.

 

4K Work Session – School Board members held a work session to discuss four year old kindergarten programming.

 

At 7:25 p.m., School Board President Arlyn Halvorson called the regular meeting to order in the School Board Room, McFarland District Office 5101 Farwell Street McFarland, WI 53558.

 

Present:                                    Arlyn Halvorson, Don Schutt, Tom Allen, Craig Howery, and Kathy Siegmann.

Absent:                                     none.

 

Motion by Schutt, second by Howery to begin the process of the election of officers.

 

Motion by Schutt, second by Howery to appoint Arlyn Halvorson as President. Motion carried 4-1.

Motion by Siegmann, second by Schutt to appoint Kathy Siegmann as President.  Motion failed 1-4.

Motion by Siegmann, second by Howery to appoint Don Schutt as Vice-President.  Motion carried 5-0.

Motion by Siegmann, second by Howery to appoint Tom Allen as Clerk. Motion carried 5-0.

Motion by Schutt, second by Allen to appoint Craig Howery as Treasurer. Motion carried 5-0.

Motion carried 5-0

 

Motion by Schutt, second by Allen to approve the following consent agenda items:

-     Minutes of the April 18, 2011 School Board Meeting and March 8, 2011 School Board Special Meeting

-     Co-Curricular Staffing Recommendations:

*     Resignation:                        Jeanne Hockett, 5.0% MHS Assistant Girls Tennis Coach

                                                Samantha Marquardt, IMMS Newspaper Faculty Sponsor

Motion carried 5-0.

 

Student Council Report – Alyse Weber provided a report on current events in the high school.

 

School Board Reports:

-          Kindergarten Enrollment Update – Jeff Mahoney provided a report on kindergarten enrollment for 2011-12.

Action Items:

Motion by Schutt, second by Howery to approve action on 2011-12 School Board meeting dates.

Motion carried 5-0

 

Notation was made of the following personnel items:                   

New Hires:                    Ashley Jesberger, 1.0 FTE Building and Grounds Custodian

                                    Kathryn DeVries, 5 to 15 hrs/week MPS/CE Literacy Teaching Assistant

 

Upcoming Reports:        May 16th -          ELL Report

                                                            Music Department – Costa Rica Trip

 

Motion by Schutt, second by Allen to adjourn.  Motion carried 5-0 and meeting adjourned at 8:36 p.m.
