TYPES OF ASSIGNMENTS GIVEN IN THIS CLASS:
Daily Work: These are things we do in class OR MAY BE ASSIGNED AS HOMEWORK. They are usually small tasks that reinforce the concepts learned in class. These include reading the text, note taking activities, answering questions, completing worksheets, writing short essays, and other things that might be assigned on a daily basis.
Projects: There will usually be one major project per quarter. The majority of the work for these projects will be done in class. There will be both individual and group grades for all projects.
Tests/Quizzes: Quizzes will be given frequently throughout the year. Most are announced in advance, but be prepared at any time for a “pop” quiz! There will be an assessment at the end of each chapter. A review sheet will be available prior to the assessment, and a review session will occur the day before all chapter assessments.
GRADING:
All assignments are worth a various amounts of points, the more involved the assignment, the higher the point value. To determine the grade all the points are added and an average is calculated. The percentages are listed below.
90-100% A
80-89% B
70-79% C
60-69% D
0-59% F
Students will be given several printouts per quarter. Grades are also available on Infinite Campus, and I will be more than happy to let students know their grades if they ask.
REGARDING LATE WORK: All assignments, papers and projects MUST be completed and handed in on the day that they are due. Please discuss any situation that might cause work to be late BEFORE the due date. Not doing this may result in a lower grade.
REGARDING ABSENCES: If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed. I will work with you to get all your missing work completed in a timely manner.
