For Immediate Release:
McFarland High School is proud to announce we are the first high school in the State of Wisconsin to become a chapter member of “We Are Many-United Against Hate.” As a We Are Many-United Against Hate Chapter, we, as a school, are committed to being an anti-racist school and support the mission of We Are Many-United Against Hate (WAM-UAH):
“We Are Many-United Against Hate is a non-partisan, non-profit, state-wide organization of people, urban and rural, spiritual and secular - seeking equal treatment for all, and united against hate, bigotry, and racism.”
McFarland High School will work to uphold the beliefs of WAM-UAH:
-
We believe that our great diversity makes America strong
-
We wish to seek a nation without divisions, where all are free to live, work, and pursue happiness as they choose.
Also, as a chapter member school, we will commit to upholding the McFarland School District Anti-Hate Resolution, creating an anti-racist and anti-hate learning community where all students, families, and staff are safe, welcomed, and valued regardless of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, religion or ancestry. We acknowledge our existence on stolen land and honor the indigenous peoples of McFarland.
We will continue to grow our social justice work by involving multiple student organizations and individuals in educating our students and community in anti-hate speech, culturally responsive curriculum practices, and providing racial anti-bias, anti-microaggression, implicit bias, and bystander intervention training to all students.
