Description: Open to all students interested in Art. Students will participate in a variety of activities both individual and as a group. Students can use this time to work on independent projects but are encouraged to participate in at least one of the murals designs / community projects. Description: Blue Notes is an advanced musical ensemble that gives students enrolled in choir the opportunity to create music at the "next level". Additionally, the Blue Notes perform at all choir concerts, Blues in the Night, re:Voiced, the Snow Tour (Dec), the McFarland Business Tour (May), Capitol Pageant, Solo & Ensemble, and more! Because the Blue Notes are such a versatile group of singers, they will be singing a huge variety of music throughout the year including contemporary pop a cappella, vocal jazz, madrigals, and chamber music. Students earn a 1/2 credit for their participation in this club.

Description: DECA is a local, state, and national organization for students enrolled in marketing or business courses. Students may attend leadership labs, career development conferences, and various competitions throughout the state. The four sides of the DECA diamond will be used for events. There will be competitive events, community service, social activities and more throughout the year. Annual events which DECA members can participate in are: Christmas in the Village, Trip to a Bucks game, District Competitions, State Competition, and International Competition. Students will also be trained to work in the school store—Spartan Headquarters.

Description: Typically a non-musical theatrical production. Rehearsal for 6-8 weeks, with emphasis on dramatic instruction in pursuit of a polished finished production. Auditions will be held in January, with performance dates in April. Always looking for aspiring actors and technicians – any and all are encouraged to audition.

Description: Students who have an interest in art and/or writing are encouraged to be part of the Driftwood staff. Activities include writing activities, promoting the anthology, fundraising, selecting the work to appear within the anthology, layout, hosting/participating in the release party, and a fundraising concert. Baked goods are an added bonus at nearly every meeting!

Description: The McFarland esports team is for any video gamer interested in learning or competing in some of today's popular video games. Students will team up to compete against other schools in video games such as League of Legends, Rocket League and Overwatch. Students will collaborate with one another to create, practice and execute strategies to help defeat the competition.

Description: The Fishing Club will plan outings to nearby lakes and rivers, share fishing stories and advice, learn from professional anglers and fisheries experts, teach new techniques, create baits, and if desired by members, organzine and participate in competitions. Members may also volunteer for events like Fishing Has No Boundaries & Take a Vet Fishing.

Description: Forensics is an organization in which students can choose to compete in various speaking and acting categories. Forensics is a great place for students to learn, practice, and display their public speaking skills while having fun. There are optional festivals to participate in as well as a mandatory sub-district and district competition if students wish to compete at the state tournament.

Description: Girl Up is a United Nations Foundation initiative focused on empowering young women around the world and educating people about the hardships women face globally. Equipment Required: Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, this proven high school transition program trains mentors from your junior and senior classes to be Link Crew Leaders. As positive role models, Link Crew Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school and help facilitate freshman success. Students interested in becoming Link Leaders should look for announcements for application sometime during fourth quarter.

Length & timing of season: Model UN meets year round for conference prep and fundraising. There are three annual conferences, usually one fall, one winter, and one spring.

Description: Teams represent a nation and participate in a United Nations simulation. Conferences provide a unique opportunity for students in grades 9-12 to gain an understanding about the functions of the United Nations and the importance of diplomacy, debate, negotiation and parliamentary procedures. One conference each year involves a trip out-of-state to a national conference.

Description: Full production of major musicals that require various levels of acting, singing and dancing. Technical aspects include: Sound Crew, Lighting Crew, Set Building, Props and Costumes. Description: Membership in National Honor Society is based upon Scholarship, Service, Character and Leadership. A faculty committee bestows this honor during a student’s junior or senior year. The committee reviews students’ commitments to school in conjunction with community activities and evaluates them in areas of leadership, character and service. To be scholastically eligible, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average. NHS members complete a number of community service projects during the school year.

Meeting times & places: Spring practices will take place at Waubesa Intermediate School, usually right after school for two hours. Non-Spring Practices to be determined based on student interest, availability, and tournament schedules.
Length & timing of season: McFarland is now a member of the Madison Ultimate League. Spring is the primary season for the Madison Ultimate League, with games in April and May. There are also possible tournaments throughout the year. Coaches will email the team about tournaments as they receive invitations or information throughout the year.
Cost: Club dues are $50 per player in order to cover transportation.
Players are required to pay a membership to USAU (US Ultimate Association) in order to participate in our league play and state tournament. The membership fee will cover the cost of league administration and player insurance. For more information on this, please review this website: http://www.usaultimate.org/memberships/. This information will also be reviewed at the parent/player meeting before season starts.
Players who don't already have a jersey will need to purchase a jersey. We will hold fundraisers throughout the year in hopes of offsetting these costs and spreading awareness of the great game of Ultimate!
Description: McFarland is proud to have both a Boys and Girls Ultimate team. Both teams had at least 20 members and had so much fun. Whether brand new or exceptionally skilled, interested students should try out for Ultimate Frisbee. Players will practice together to learn the rules, plays and skills of the game as well as meet new people both at MHS and other Madison Area schools. We are excited to continue growing as a team and are looking forward to gaining new members. If you’re at all interested but are unsure, please join in on a practice or talk to one of the coaches if interested!

Description: The purpose of this club is to end the social and physical isolation of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are aiming to spread awareness about different disabilities and break the stigma associated with them.

Description: The Visual Arts Classic is a competition which engages High School students in creative problem solving within their chosen studio area: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Ceramics, Sculpture, Art History, Computer Graphic Design, Traditional Photography, Personal Adornment, Video, and Digital Photography. Each year a theme is selected along with twelve artists and/or cultures for the students to study in-depth. Students are provided with a long-term prompt that they solve prior to the regional competition. Students will be provided with a list of materials to bring in order to compete in the onsite studio project at the regional competition. Students will also participate in two team competitions, an Art History Quiz Bowl that is centered on the year’s artists and cultures and a Critical Thinking competition that involves the team solving a problem together and presenting their solution to the other teams. Students receiving a first place on either their individual long-term or onsite project will proceed onto VAC State competition in Madison. Teams earning first place in Critical Thinking, the Quiz Bowl, or the teams with the highest number of points overall at each regional, will advance on to state to compete as a team.
