As an educator for over 25 years, I am very excited to be working in the McFarland School District as the Math Interventionist at Indian Mound Middle School. The 2020-2021 school year will be my second year with the district. I have taught all middle school academic subject areas early in my career in Milwaukee and Madison Public Schools. I then worked at Waunakee Intermediate School focusing more on Math and Science. Finally, I served as the Math Interventionist at Patrick Marsh Middle School in Sun Prairie for two years prior to coming to McFarland.
I strive to build positive relationships with every student and to instill a growth mindset where mistakes are thought of as positive learning experiences. I get to work closely with all the Math teachers to determine ways to best meet every student's needs and be an encouraging coach to students to help them reach their potential.
I grew up in Burlington, WI as the youngest of 8 children in our family. I lived in Sun Prairie for the past 15 years until this summer when my husband and I decided to sell our home and move to Stoughton, right off of Lake Kegonsa. We are looking forward to enjoying lake life:) We have two dogs named Summer and Daisy, and a snake named Frank. My daughter Abbey graduated from UW-Madison with a Chemical Engineering degree and is working in LaCrosse. This summer she bought her first house! My son Austin is in his Senior year at UW-Milwaukee studying Mechanical Engineering. It has been such a joy watching them both grow into kind, hard working, interesting people. In my free time I am likely attending a live music show with family or friends, going to a comedy show, reading or listening to an educational podcast, traveling, or decorating my home. I love adventure of all kinds!
I am looking forward to an exciting school year filled with perseverance and growth! Please use this Math Resource for support during the school year and feel free to contact me with questions along the way. I am here to help any student with any Math roadblocks encountered during the year.
Also, please reach out to me with any questions, concerns, insights or thoughts to improve Math content or delivery for your child at Indian Mound.
Here's to a fantastic school year!!
