Welcome to Sixth Grade! My name is Marty Kvalheim and I look forward to being your son’s/ daughter’s Global Studies teacher in the content areas of English Language Arts (SS) and Social Studies. Together we will explore the wonders and curiosities of the world through our content in these subjects over the course of this year. Throughout the year, the goal will be to develop the necessary knowledge and skills for students to be successful in the future.
As a professional educator, I have been fortunate to teach in the District of McFarland since 1997. During that time, I have served as a fifth-grade teacher at IMMS and WIS, with the majority of my teaching career being a part of an amazing sixth grade Global Studies team at IMMS. This has afforded me the opportunity to use my History and Political Science degrees from UW-Madison in conjunction with my teaching certifications from UW-Platteville to assist students in learning the vital pieces of the sixth grade Global Studies Curriculum.
Community Member
In addition to teaching in the District, I have been a member of the McFarland Community since 2005, when my family and I moved to McFarland so our children could be part of many great educational and recreational opportunities available in the village. While living in the McFarland, I have been actively involved in volunteer opportunities including coaching for volleyball, boys golf, rec. baseball and girls softball, along with teaching confirmation classes for years at McFarland Lutheran Church.
Hobbies and interests
Over the years I have developed a love for a variety of hobbies and interests including athletics such as volleyball, golf, and baseball, as well as occasionally running 5k races in the fall and spring for fun. When not enjoying sports, I often like to be outdoors and enjoy going for hikes with my wife, Tiffany, though sometimes I prefer to just hang with the family and catch a movie.
